BIG BALLS Ambassador - JEFF STELLING

"Mental health issues are hidden inside homes and inside heads. Admitting you are struggling to your mates, family or doctor, is a huge step especially for men because we are meant to be hard, tough, the breadwinner perhaps, the rock.

And if you do speak up ? Snap out of it is the glib answer. It makes me sick.

Anyone can suffer – rich or poor, black or white, old or young. I’ve seen mental illness close up. Friends fighting a terrible battle with themselves, with precious little help available to them.

That’s why I am proud to be an ambassador of the BIG BALLS FOUNDATION. It should not take Big Balls to talk about mental health but it does. Lets help change peoples attitudes and understanding of mental issues.

Now , I will drink to that!"

BIG BALLS Founder -
JAY BYERS

I started the BIG BALLS Foundation because of the shock of waking up to find out a guy I had known for 20 odd years, a mate, took his own life on Boxing Day last year. (This is for you Jay Matthews!)

It made me re-examine my own mental health issues in the past and realise that when I was at my lowest, staring down the well (literally at one point), that I too was very close to the edge. But I got through it and from 2016 I have never looked back. I started STEEL RIVER DRINKS in 2017 and that has given me a purpose in life again.

Some people are not so lucky. Some poeple don't find that peace. They continue to suffer in silence with mental health issues. And some, tragically choose to end that suffering. That leads to heartache and pain for those left behind that lasts a lifetime.

Now when I look around me I see friends and family suffering from various mental health issues and realise it is everywhere and impacts on so many of us. But STILL too many people are too shamed to speak out.
So as soon as I gained some following and traction in my drinks business I knew I wanted to start a stand alone brand to put into bars to prompt people to start talking about mental health.

That is BIG BALLS DRINKS. So if someone is suffering from mental health issues and sees BIG BALLS in a bar, and it makes just one person speak out before its too late, then it will all be worth it. But I hope those who are mentally fine see BIG BALLS in bars and buy it to raise money from the amazing chairties that help mental health sufferers too.
